The much-delayed NSS announcement was followed by the October 27, 2022 NDS.
The strategy names China at the top of the list. 88 times when searching for PRC, 89 times for Russia.
The main points are as follows
- Defending the homeland, paced to the growing multi-domain threat posed by the PRC;
- Deterring strategic attacks against the United States, Allies, and partners;
- Deterring aggression, while being prepared to prevail in conflict when necessary - prioritizing the PRC challenge in the Indo-Pacific region, then the Russia challenge in Europe, and;
- Building a resilient Joint Force and defense ecosystem.
Russia, followed by the PRC as follows Indo-Pacific with China as the focal point, followed by Europe with the Ukraine issue.

The 20-page text is followed by the Neclear Posture Review (a little over 20 pages) and the Missile Defense Review (12 pages). Palau is a U.S. radar base. Palau, where a US radar base has been established, is not so much for Palau as for the Pacific, including Japan, as part of the Pacific Deterrence Initiative (PDI).

だいぶ遅れたNSSの発表に続いて2022年10月27日NDSが発表された。
中国を名指しで、トップにもってきた戦略である。PRCで検索すると88回出てくる。Russiaは89回。
要点は以下の通り
- 中国によるマルチドメインな脅威の高まりに対応した国土防衛。
- 米国、同盟国、パートナーに対する戦略的攻撃を抑止する。
- 侵略を抑止し、必要な場合には紛争に勝利する準備をする。インド太平洋地域における中国の課題、次に欧州におけるロシアの課題に優先的に取り組む。
- 弾力性のある統合軍と防衛エコシステムを構築する
Russia, PRCに続いて以下の通りである。中国を焦点したインド太平洋が続き、ウクライナ問題を抱えるヨーロッパが続く。

20ページの本文に続いて20ページ強のNeclear Posture Reviewと12ページのMissile Defense Reviewが添付資料としてある。Missile Defense Reviewに「西太平洋」すなわち日本（沖縄）、台湾、パラオを含む太平洋島嶼国が書かれている。パラオは米軍のレーダー基地が設置されたが、パラオのためというより日本を含む太平洋、Pacific Deterrence Initiative: PDIの一環である事を忘れてならない。
全文を読んでいないし、今後専門家の評価がどんどん出てくると思う。
