今回のニューカレドニア住民投票を巡る公式見解は、微妙にしかし大きく違った。これが今後国際世論、国連での動きを左右していく。即ち３回目の住民投票が有効か無効か、ニューカレドニアの政治的立場がどうなるのか？そこに、中露が入り込む隙は山ほどありそうだ。
国際法が鍵だ。中露は特に中国は国際法がなんだかわかっている。使い勝手の良い道具であることを。

Australia acknowledges the peaceful conduct of New Caledonia’s third referendum on independence under the Noumea Accord, and the enduring importance of self-determination to New Caledonians.
The third referendum resulted in a majority of votes cast on the day being in favour of remaining a part of France.
As a friend, close neighbour and fellow member of the Pacific Islands Forum, Australia extends our best wishes for the important discussions ahead and looks forward to continued cooperation between all parties to shape New Caledonia’s future.
Australia looks forward to continuing to work with France in the Pacific and globally.

Aotearoa New Zealand encourages participation in New Caledonian post-referendum process

Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta today welcomed the fact the referendum process to determine the future status of New Caledonia was calm and secure.
“We support the right of all peoples to self-determination, as expressed under international law,” Nanaia Mahuta said.
“Aotearoa New Zealand now encourages all parties to participate peacefully and constructively in the post-referendum transition process in the spirit of the Nouméa Accord.
”It is important to Aotearoa New Zealand that the rights of indigenous peoples are respected and recognised.
“France remains an important like-minded partner for Aotearoa New Zealand in the region and globally. We will continue to work closely with New Caledonia and France to grow and strengthen our valued partnership, including on security and trade, people-to-people links, and in responding to the shared challenges of COVID-19,” Nanaia Mahuta said.

「アオテアロア・ニュージーランドは現在、ヌーメア合意の精神に基づき、すべての当事者が住民投票後の移行プロセスに平和的かつ建設的に参加することを奨励しています。
「アオテアロア ニュージーランドにとって、先住民の権利が尊重され、認識されることは重要なことです。
