八重山諸島は言論空間が深く多様なのである。3月31日に与那国お話をいただくジャーナリスト松田良孝氏と「八重山ジャーナリズム」についてお話したが、新聞社が２社あるだけでなく南山舎と言う出版会社まである。
この南山舎に、私が企画運営してきた「やしの実大学」の特集号を出していただいた。
昨年八重山を訪ねた時に南山舎にお邪魔して、与那国と台湾関係のバックナンバーをいくつか購入した。B5 サイズがA4サイズになっていた。「情報やいま」が「月刊やいま」に。。
「台湾２２８事件と八重山」「台湾の八重山人」はどちらも松田さんの記事だ。観光情報ではない、八重山と台湾の人々の顔が見える記事である。
そして台湾と八重山を結んで切り裂いた戦争の傷跡を語る山里節子さん「節ちゃんオバーの戦争」も拝読。沖縄で反基地運動を繰り広げるのは本土の人と話すネトウヨは読んで欲しい。節子さんが85歳の体をはって自衛隊基地に反対する理由が理解できる。石垣で基地反対運動を繰り広げるは七人しかいない、とタクシーの運転手さんから聞いたが、例え七人でも真剣に耳を傾ける必要がある。特に防衛省、自衛隊の皆さんに八重山、台湾、そして南洋諸島の女性、子供たちの経験を知って欲しいのである。

The Yaeyama Islands have a deep and diverse discourse space.
On 31 March, Mr Yoshitaka Matsuda, a journalist who will talk about Yonaguni, discussed "Yaeyama journalism" with me, and there are not only two newspaper companies, but also a publishing company called Nanzansha.
This Nanzansha has published a special issue of "Coconuts College", which I had planned and managed in 90s to 2000s
When I visited Yaeyama last year, I visited Nanzansha and bought some back numbers related to Yonaguni and Taiwan. "Information Yaima" became "Monthly Yaima".
"Taiwan 228 Incident and Yaeyama" and "Yaeyama People in Taiwan" are both articles by Mr Matsuda. These are not tourist information, but articles in which the people of Yaeyama and Taiwan can be seen.
I also read Setsuko Yamasato's "War of Setsuchan Granma", in which she talks about the scars of the war that once linked Taiwan and Yaeyama and tore them apart. Right wing people, who claim that it is people from mainland Japan who are waging an anti-base movement in Okinawa, need to read this article. They will understand why Setsuko-san, at the age of 85, opposes the Self-Defence Forces' bases. I heard from a taxi driver that there are only seven people in Ishigaki who are campaigning against the base, but even if there are seven, we need to listen to them seriously. We especially want the Ministry of Defence and the SDF to know the experiences of women and children in Yaeyama, Taiwan and the South Seas Islands.
